Business Immigration
Under NAFTA
NAFTA
deals with four main categories of nonimmigrant visas:
Chapter 16 of
the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) defines and
implements the immigration provisions of NAFTA. Contrary
to popular belief, obtaining a NAFTA based immigration benefit
will not increase permanent immigration and in some cases will actually
prohibit the simultaneous pursuit of permanent residence. Although
NAFTA will not assist an applicant seeking permanent residency,
it has created or at least extended many options for Canadian and
Mexican citizens seeking entry into the United States that should
not be overlooked.
